Augmenting the Original Free AutoHotkey Scripts Page, We Now Offer an Alternative Script Index without the EXE Files
For a couple of reasons, I’ve created a new download page for the free AutoHotkey script on the ComputorEdge Software Showcase site:
- Depending upon Windows security settings, some people have trouble downloading ZIP files which include compiled EXE files.
- Recent “Denial of Service” attacks have made the ComputorEdge.com site unavailable in certain parts of the world. (For now, I know of one UK reader who has trouble connecting.)
It just makes sense to offer an alternative download site.
The new site only offers ZIP files containing plain-text AHK files—and possibly images or INI files, but no compiled EXE files. If you want a compiled version of the script, you can either compile it yourself using the AutoHotkey compiler or attempt to download it at ComputorEdge Free AutoHotkey Scripts page—if available.
Scripts written for AutoHotkey version 2.0 include the AHK2 extension.
I intend to continue adding information to the new page. Right now, it only offers an index with download links. Since the vast majority of readers can continue to access the original site, I do not plan to duplicate all for that information in the new index.
Click the Follow button at the top of the sidebar on the right of this page for e-mail notification of new blogs. (If you’re reading this on a tablet or your phone, then you must scroll all the way to the end of the blog—pass any comments—to find the Follow button.)
