Two New AutoHotkey PC Software Automation Chapters in the Second Edition of Jack’s New Beginner’s Guide to AutoHotkey
In the course of editing Jack’s Motley Assortment of AutoHotkey Tips, I discovered two chapters discussing Windows program automation which long ago I had intended to add to the AutoHotkey Beginner’s Guide. My bad. I have now fixed that omission and added them to the Second Edition. The new chapters appear as follows:
Chapter Seventeen: Automate Any Program in Windows, Part I (New in Second Edition)
- Use AutoHotkey to Automate Your Favorite Windows Programs
- AutoHotkey Works with Any Program
- Automating Program Menus
- Using Menu Shortcut Keys
- Cascading Menus
- Navigating Pop-up Windows
- Click to Success!
- Finding AutoHotkey Key Names
Chapter Eighteen: Automate Any Program in Windows: Part II (New in Second Edition)
- Find the Hidden Names of Program Controls to Automate Windows Applications
- Using Control Names to Automate Programs
- Finding Control Names
- Control Commands
- Less Code with ControlSetText Command
- Save As… Dialogue
If you’ve previously purchased this book at ComputorEdge E-Books, then you should be able to download the current edition free. If you’ve run out of downloads, then contact me with your name and order number and I’ll add more downloads and send a new download e-mail. This applies to both the current new version and the older original version.
If you purchased Jack’s New Beginner’s Guide to AutoHotkey from Amazon, then you should be able to update to the new edition. If you purchased the older original version (the word New not in the title) from Amazon, then, sorry, I don’t think Amazon will let you update to the current version since it’s a different book.
Library Bundles
If you own an AutoHotkey Library Bundle which includes any Beginner’s Guide, then you should be able to download the latest version. Again, if out of downloads, contact me with your name and order number and I’ll add more downloads and send you a new download e-mail.
The Motley Mega Library Bundle
The recently released Jack’s Motley Assortment of AutoHotkey Tips—A LivingBook has now joined the 10-Book AutoHotkey Mega Library. If you own any other library and would like to upgrade to the new full package, then contact me with your invoice number(s) and I’ll send you information on how you can get credit for your past purchases toward the price of the new upgrade. This includes credit for any other AutoHotkey books you may have previously purchased at ComputorEdge E-Books—even if not part of a bundle.
If you would like to add Jack’s Motley Assortment of AutoHotkey Tips to either the AutoHotkey Beginner’s Bundle or the AutoHotkey Intermediate Bundle, you can do so at a reduced price. (Check out the appropriate link for details or contact me for any previous purchases.) See this Motley Page for all the possibilities.
Note: The book Jack’s Motley Assortment of AutoHotkey Tips includes seven additional chapters on automating Windows Paint as demonstrations of various program automation techniques.
